Day 5

I actually had something different planned for today, another MCG installment, but I decided to rework the art on it a bit based on some suggestions people made on the first few comics.

The joke is based on a ridiculous philosophy paper I wrote in college about the futility of farting in an empty elevator (since you’re the only one in there to suffer). The paper was sort of my take on “If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it…”.

I do agree with everyone’s comments that I should try to incorporate the joke into the drawing more. I studied journalism in college, wrote for a paper for a while after college, and now work in a job that involves way more writing than drawing… suffice it to say that I sometimes default to writing since I’m more comfortable with it. However, sticking to what I’m comfortable with isn’t exactly the point of this month, so I’ll keep trying.

By the way, the support for both this project and last month’s Hungry For A Month has been outstanding. Everyone’s comments are greatly appreciated. Anyone who is interested in joining me on any of these little adventures should email me at steine23[-at-]msu[-dot-]edu and I’ll post a link to your site.
